By 6 months, baby is becoming stronger. They can support them self while sitting to look at things around them and have the ability to reach for and hold objects. Their newly developed motor skills help them with many activities like exploring toys and beginning solid foods.
By 6 months of age, baby should be meeting these milestones:
• Uses hands to support self while sitting
• Rolls from back to tummy and tummy to back
• While standing with support, accepts entire weight with legs
• Reaches for a toy while on tummy
• While lying on back, reaches both hands to play with feet
• Uses both hands to explore toys
The 4-6 months motor milestones video series can help parents and caregivers track their baby’s development, compare the movements, and detect possible motor delays. Use Pathways.org resources to track baby’s milestones and help identify potential concerns. If you notice your baby is not meeting their 4-6 months motor milestones, contact their health care provider.
