Salt Lake City, the capital of Utah, is a must-visit location on the way to major national parks, such as Yellowstone and Arches. However, Salt Lake City itself is quite beautiful. If you only have one day to spend, how should you spend it?
Local Attractions:
- Utah State Capitol - Located halfway up the hill, this magnificent Byzantine-style building overlooks the whole city. It is one of the most famous state Capitol buildings in the country and is even more sophisticated than the Capitol building in Washington, D.C. Gray marble is paired with carved beams and columns, solemn and majestic. It is especially beautiful at night when the lights are on.

Suggested time: 2 hours - The Salt Lake Temple - A century-old landmark in Salt Lake City, it is the largest Mormon temple in the world. It is located next to the State Capitol. Only members of the church are allowed inside, and the exterior is currently under renovation. It will reopen in 2024.

Suggested time: 1 hour - Cathedral of the Madeleine - An incredibly beautiful Catholic church and one of America's national historic landmarks. The stained glass and intricate carvings give a European vibe.

Suggested time: 30 minutes - Natural History Museum of Utah - With exhibits on space, extinct animal fossils, Native American history, life science, human origins, geological science, and the history of the Great Salt Lake, this museum is great for families with kids.

Suggested time: 2.5 hours - City Creek Center - A particularly beautiful shopping mall with an aerial glass bridge, music fountain, and beautiful Christmas decorations. It features well-known brands.

Suburban Attractions:
- Bonneville Salt Flats - With an area of over 10,000 square kilometers, it is about 1.5 hours away from the city. The best time to visit is after rain when the flats are filled with water, giving a feeling of being surrounded by the sky.
- Antelope Island State Park - Another place to admire the Great Salt Lake but requires a little detour.
Location: 13312 W 1075 S, Magna - Diamond Fork Hot Springs - A rare natural waterfall-like hot spring. It is a one-hour drive, followed by a 2.5-mile hike. The spring's water is crystal clear, and it takes about 3-4 hours to enjoy it fully.
