A Beach in Hawaii Where You Can Definitely See Sea Turtles 🐢
I spent two weeks in Hawaii, and because of the excellent ecological environment here, you can actually see sea turtles on many beaches in Hawaii. However, some places require luck. The beach I am recommending now is the only beach where you can definitely encounter sea turtles. It is a beach that is specially protected by a government-invited animal conservation organization. They have ropes and designated areas to prevent people from getting too close or feeding the turtles. These conservationists also provide information and insights about sea turtles.
🌊 [Laniakea Beach] is located on the north shore of Oahu. Although it is about a 1-hour drive from where we stayed in Waikiki, it is very close to the north shore skydiving center, only a 17-minute drive. I recommend scheduling skydiving and visiting the sea turtles on the same day!
🐢 Sea turtles usually come ashore to sunbathe around 12:00-3:00 pm. When we arrived, we saw two large sea turtles already on the beach, and three more were getting ready to come ashore, being hit by the waves. Note!!! Bad weather conditions are an exception, and it is not recommended to visit in those conditions!
No entrance fee is required. There is a dedicated parking area, and parking is free. However, the parking lot may get full, and I noticed that many cars are parked on the roadside.
⚠️Tips ‼️
When you reach the beach, facing the ocean, the beach with rocks and a crowd on your right is where sea turtles usually appear. Make sure you don't go the wrong way. The ocean here is also breathtaking, and many people go snorkeling here! You might even be snorkeling and suddenly a sea turtle passes right by you.
Drones are prohibited at many attractions in Hawaii, but this beach is one of the few places where you can fly and capture aerial footage. However, I would advise against carrying a drone all the way to the United States just for this. It is quite heavy, and there are not many places where you can fly it.
