Lake Tahoe - Bringing Back Memories of First Love with Its Winter Magic✨
Lake Tahoe is truly breathtaking in the winter! There are many ski resorts that offer great skiing experiences as well. We went to Palisades this time since it accepts the Ikon pass and the ski resort experience was terrific and very user-friendly for beginners!
Please note that while four-wheel drive is recommended, it's best to have snow chains as a backup in current weather conditions.
You can rent ski equipment at the ski resort, however, it's about $20 more expensive than outside rental shops. We found a cheaper option nearby and rented for two days which was also very convenient!
As recent blizzards have made safety a concern, here are a few must-see attractions:
✨Emerald Bay offers a stunning view of most of the lake, but unfortunately, we couldn't visit this time as the road was blocked. However, making the trip to Emerald Bay is definitely worth it to avoid any regret.
✨Thomas F. Regan Memorial City Beach is a must-visit every time! There's a swing and slide nearby which is perfect for kids to play on and also offers great photo opportunities. The frozen lake surface is also a sight to behold!
As California weather has been unpredictable lately, with the Bay Area experiencing heavy rain and Lake Tahoe being hit with snowstorms, we recommend downloading two apps for travel - the quick map, which allows you to check for any road closures at any time, and Open Snow, which gives you an accurate weather forecast for the ski resorts in the upcoming week.
