⚠️If you don't feel like bringing your own food, the Getty Center has several café restaurants. I suggest you order some light takeaways here and then find a good spot on The Central Garden Lawn, lay out a picnic blanket, and tuck in. Take off your shoes and feel the softness of the grass! If you don't want to be in the sun, you can dine in the restaurant - the view is also pretty good.
✨The Restaurant:
This is a high-end restaurant located in the dining area, with an excellent view overlooking the Santa Monica Mountains. On Sundays, brunch is available from 11 am-3 pm, with main courses priced between $18-$34, which is not exactly cheap. LOL.
✨Garden Tea:
This is a teahouse on the terrace of the dining area. It is only open on Fridays and Saturdays from 2 pm to 4:30 pm. Prices are per person, with adults at $49 and children at $30. You can enjoy a rich English afternoon tea with both sweet and savory delicacies.
✨Cafe:
This is a self-service café in the dining area. You can purchase sandwiches, thick soup, salad, pizza, tacos, burritos, and barbecue. You can then enjoy your meal on the counter.
✨Garden Terrace Cafe:
This café on the garden terrace of the Exhibitions Pavilion specializes in dining on the terrace. During the pandemic, they sell boxed lunches and beverages. They operate from 11 am – 4 pm.
✨Coffee Cart:
There is a coffee cart in the courtyard selling simple beverages and light meals. They provide boxed lunches and beverages during the pandemic period, operating from 10 am – 5:30 pm.
🗯If you finish eating early, you can freely stroll around and take photographs outdoors. The garden scene from the lawn is more complete, or you can go to the entrance of the Research Institute built with limestone - the museum calls this perspective "Framed Views". From here, the stone gate and the distant view together form a landscape composition much like a photograph.
