East LA Hiking Route 🌱 Diamond Bar
Today, I continued to explore nearby hiking trails within 10 miles of my home and would like to recommend the following route to East LA residents looking for light hiking and exercise.
📍Address: Steep Canyon Trail (902 Steep Canyon Rd, Diamond Bar CA 91765)
🎈Distance: Following the largest loop in the last photo, the hike is approximately 6 km (3.7 miles) long and takes two hours to complete.
✨ Impressions:
- The trail mostly consists of dirt roads and, true to its name, has steep slopes. Some sections are slippery, making it feel quite primitive.
- There are beautiful forests and small bridges along the way. However, due to a lack of rain this year, no streams were visible.
- There is little shade on the return route from the Summitidgetrailhead, which could be challenging in the summer heat.
- The Summitidge Trailhead has ample parking, whereas parking at the Steep Trailhead is limited to street parking. Around 11 am, when I returned, there were still plenty of parking spaces.
- There is a lovely park at the Summitidge Trailhead, perfect for resting after the hike.
🧡 Tips
- Due to the dirt roads, it is recommended to wear non-slip hiking shoes and bring trekking poles.
- The Trailhead has a staircase, which might be challenging for people with knee issues.
- Suggestion: Park at the Summitidge Trailhead or set your GPS to Diamond Bar Center.
