Egypt‼️ Journey through the millennia to the awe-inspiring Temple of Abu Simbel🏛
🗯 Despite being exhausted from yesterday's scorching 45-degree heat in Aswan, I unhesitatingly embarked on a journey across the Sahara at five o'clock in the morning. With the first rays of desert sunlight, I drove for eight hours, crossing the war-stricken Sudan border to reach this temple that featured in Agatha Christie's "Death on the Nile."
🏛 The magnificent "Temple of Abu Simbel" was constructed by Egypt's most renowned pharaoh, Ramesses II. Over three thousand years ago, based on astronomical, astrological, and geographical knowledge, this temple was designed at the request of Ramesses II to allow sunlight to enter only on his birthday, February 21st, and his coronation day, October 21st. The sunlight would penetrate the temple's 60-meter deep hall, illuminating the three statues on the right, but never reaching the god of death. This spectacle is what the world knows as the "Miracle of the Sun."
🏛 To prevent the temple from being submerged by the Nile, Abu Simbel was relocated, raised by 65 meters. As a result, the time of sunlight entering the temple was delayed by a day. One cannot help but marvel at the ingenuity of the ancient Egyptians.
🏛 This temple also witnessed the love story between Ramesses II and his beloved consort, Nefertari. Despite living to over ninety years old and having eight wives and countless concubines and heirs, he only built a temple for Nefertari, allowing the world to witness his devotion to her even after millennia.
✨"Because of you, the sun rises every day," a gaze and affection that transcends millennia.
If you ask me if it is worth visiting, my answer is a resounding yes. Even though it was the trip where I slept the least and woke up the earliest every day, it was also the most exhilarating and exhausting period of my life. But whenever I see the moment the sun rises and illuminates the temple, or witness the sun's ascent and descent over the Nile, I believe that brave souls should be the first to savor the wonders of this world‼️
