Translation: "Utah is truly a treasure trove! The Toadstools Hoodoos near Page are absolutely stunning. Specifically, Toadstools Hoodoos is located in Kanab, about a 40-minute drive from Page along Highway 89. The trailhead is easy to find, right by the roadside. It is also situated within the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument (I've always wanted to go there, but it seems to be closed on weekends according to Google Maps). However, this visit doesn't require checking in as it's not a designated park, and there are plenty of hiking opportunities within its large area.
🌟 Toadstools Hoodoos have a unique geological formation, formed during the Late Cretaceous period when this area used to be underwater. The rock formations, such as the mushroom-shaped Balance Rock, are quite concentrated in this vicinity. The weather was windy that day, and after walking through the sandy trail, I plan to come back in cooler weather to further explore the surroundings.
🌟 The trail is a one-way in-and-out route, about 3.7 kilometers round trip with an elevation gain of about 170 meters. The trail itself is not difficult and the main scenery consists of canyons with sparse vegetation. Sun protection is crucial, and one should avoid straying onto the trail formed by water deposits. Higher ground along the trail is relatively flat and easy to walk on. At the trail's end, there is a group of red stone mushroom trees surrounded by scattered Balance Rocks. It's definitely worth exploring the surrounding area, which includes a white canyon with white stone mushrooms and sporadic red stones that create a captivating contrast.
🌟 Sun protection is of utmost importance! I wore gear that provided outstanding coverage, but still ended up with sand in my mouth due to the strong winds."
